Who we are

Last updated:

AJAG is an independent information portal built around one subject: gambling addiction help for people in the UK. We write about the warning signs that matter, the tools a person can use to regain control, and the organisations ready to listen without judgment.

The subject we cover

Every page on this site answers a question someone searching for help with gambling might ask. What does problem gambling look like in everyday life? How do deposit limits work, and do they actually help? Where can someone talk to a trained adviser today, right now, without giving their name?

The guides here explain self-exclusion, cooling-off periods, blocking software and the national helplines in plain terms. We write about the gap between knowing something has become a problem and taking the first step to change it.

Who reads this site

Some readers land here because they recognise a pattern in their own behaviour – chasing losses, lying about how much they've spent, gambling to escape worry. Others are looking on behalf of someone close to them. A few arrive after a single night that went too far and want to make sure it doesn't happen again.

Whatever brought you here, the information is the same: honest about what problem gambling does, practical about the options that exist, and clear that asking for help is not weakness.

How the guides are made

We start with the questions people actually search for, then check the answers against public sources – the organisations that run helplines, the regulator's own guidance, the software providers who build blocking tools. Every guide is written in everyday language, without jargon or euphemism.

When something changes – a new self-exclusion scheme launches, an organisation updates its services – we revise the relevant pages. Accuracy matters more than speed, and we would rather say less than guess.

What we do not do

This site gives information only. We do not diagnose addiction, recommend treatment plans or offer personal advice of any kind. We do not sell goods or services, and nothing on this site is sponsored or influenced by commercial relationships.

The help organisations we name – GamCare, BeGambleAware, GamStop and the rest – are included because they are the established, independent resources in this field, not because anyone paid to be listed.

Getting in touch

You can reach us at [email protected] with questions about the subject we cover, suggestions for topics we have not written about yet, or corrections if something on the site is out of date. We reply within 48 hours.

Remember that we cannot give personal advice. If you need to talk to someone trained in gambling harm today, the National Gambling Helpline is free and confidential: 0808 8020 133, available 24 hours a day.

Support and age restriction

Gambling is restricted to people aged 18 and over. If you or someone you know is struggling with gambling, trained support is available through GamCare (National Gambling Helpline: 0808 8020 133, free and confidential, 24/7) and BeGambleAware.

This is an information site for general guidance only. We do not sell any goods or services. Gambling is for people aged 18 and over. Free, confidential support is available at BeGambleAware.org.
